Monday Morning Reading

After almost 10 months of writing for this site, I am always seeking ways to improve and do different things.  While certain aspects of it you may become used to, I have felt that change sometimes is good.  That being said, the usual Monday Morning Reading post that would normally be here is going to change a bit.

Yes, I will still link some stories from the blogosphere that I think you should read, but I’m going to turn this into something else.  Similar to Elliotte Friedman’s 30 Thoughts  as an example.  My plan is to list anywhere from 12 to 15 or more things that are on my mind.  Could be related to the Florida Panthers, could be related to the other NHL teams, but will not have anyting to do with the NBA.

I had thought about having a one hour special to announce these changes on ESPN, TSN, or CBC, but all calls have gone unreturned.   So there goes that idea.

Bottom line, I’m a bit stuck for a title and maybe you can help.  Realizing that  my viewership has grown, the 3 responses I get from you may not be enough!  So feel free to send a couple.  Here’s what I was thinking:

Rat Trick Rants, Kitty Litter, Thoughts Fit for a King ( a LeBron joke), Nine Lives.  That’s where I’m at so far.  Any suggestions you will come up with will be taken under for advisement with the Rat Trick Staff, and a title will ultimately be chosen for next week’s post. I’d like to say I’ll offer a prize to the winner if chosen, but all I can offer you would be the Panther license plate frame that I took off my car.  I mean if you want it, I’ll arrange to give it to you.

In the meantime, here’s a few links to stories that you should read.

The good man over at Blades of Funny  apparently spoke to or had an inside track to the GM’s around the league.  You’ll need to read his post to see what they said!

No Trade Clauses can be a pretty sensitive issue for players, teams and agents.  Stay Classy talks about the awkwardness of those situations.

View From My Seats has an excellent piece on the situation in Chicago.  Well done, and I have to say I agree.

An ingeniuos site, Intent To Blow, offers a solution to the goings on in Calgary.  You have to read it to believe it.

Bourne’s Blog by former player Justin Bourne always has good and intriguing things to say.  His post from this past Friday is no different, espcecially the part about LeBron James.

Ok, that’s a wrap for now.  As I said any suggestions that you have for this future column of my thoughts and blog links will be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

You never cease to amaze me! I love the Steve Bernier ideas. I could actually see myself going with one of those.
As for Stephen A Smith, that would be referencing basketball, a sport that makes me want to watch Real Housewives of New York instead!
And I probably wouldn’t do that anyway!

So,it could be the Rat theme, the Benier theme, but most likely not the “Cat” theme for obvious reasons.

Although we have recently signed dman/forward Nathan Paetsch. How about deep thoughts by Patch Adams?

Thanks for the input, and the help!

Thank you for the link, good sir.

    Re: Title suggestions…

    “Hockey Life with Steve Bernier’
    “What Would Steve Bernier Do?”
    “The Steve Bernier Chronicles”

mind you, while I’ll be disappointed if you don’t go the Bernier route, here are some other suggestions…

You can steal Stephen A Smith’s end skit and go with “Quite Frankly with Frank”

or sticking with a rat theme… “Chew On This (July 12th Edition)” or “Things To Chew On”

or if you want to go with the cat stuff…

    “Frank’s Thoughts On Florida Pussies”

but that may send the wrong message and your wife will surely not be impressed.

How about: “Deep Thoughts On Florida Pussy”?

Doh! Same problem. Better stick with the rat theme.
