I think I’m gonna like this kid. Why? Well for one, he’s said more already in less than a week than former defenceman Jay Bouwmeester did in the entire time he was here. He also sat at the Panther’s draft table on Saturday, and according to sources had alot of intelligent things to say.
Eric Gudbranson the good looking youngster that was taken as the third overall pick in this year’s draft has already made a major impression. He fully expects to compete for a job in the upcoming training camp, and he plans to be in the lineup come the beginning of the season as well. He’s excited about being here, and has said that he feels he can be an excellent compliment to last year’s number on pick of the Panthers Dmitry Kulikov.
Dmitry and Eric. Jimmy and Eric. Kuli and Guddy. Who knows, there’s a few ways to potentially pair these guys up, but in what I’ve read and seen so far, I think that Dale Tallon has picked the best defenceman available in the draft. Confident, and skilled at the same time, if this kid makes it, we’ll be pretty pleased.
Well spoken too, as I heard him interviewed during the draft coverage last weekend. He’s not afraid or shy of the publicity. Hopefully, and I see no reason why he would be, he seems to be right at home in front of the camera. Unlike others who shall remain nameless. The kids got a personality. He seems to be pretty marketable too.
I think he knows he’s got a tremendous opportunity and he’s going to take full advantage of the makeover that is being done here in South Florida. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the paring of Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook in Chicago could be exactly what Dale Tallon is planning here with Kulikov and Gudbranson.
Here’s a profile on Eric. Tell me, what’s not to like?
