Dale Tallon. The Florida Panthers New GM!

HELL YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My phone has just received three tweets!  As I sit in my office trying to digest my lunch at 1:15 in the afternoon, as well as do the happy dance.  It’s buzzing out of control as I type!

It appears that  Dale Tallon, former General Manager of the “New and Improved” Chicago Blackhawks will be named the New General manager for the Florida Panthers!

Tallon, who was moved out of the GM position in Chicago prior to the start of this season for a number of reasons, some of which were cap related, was instrumental in building the Blackhawks.  Drafting players like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith and making some terrific trades. Like stealing Patrick Sharp from the Philadelphia Flyers!

WOW!  That’s what I have to say.  WOW!

Here  is the announcement from the Panthers website.

More on the story as it breaks, or as I can find details, but both Steve Gorten of the Sun- Sentinel and George Richards of the Miami Herald have sent this message out.  Along with James Mirtle of  The Globe and Mail!

Here’s  more from the Sun-Sentinel.

All I can say so far are two things.  #1) Tallon deserves it.  #2) Maybe this makes the Panthers legitimate!

Thanks for reading.

Hank, if he does, I buy the first two rounds. At least.

My concern about that though is that Pete is still under contract for a year and that the Cats would have to pay him. Tallon is flying to the World Juniors on Wednesday to talk to Pete.

Regardless, Dale is a stand up and direct guy. I don’t think he would take this position if he was told Pete stays no matter what. The roster is bound to change and that is good. With more vets most likely, I’m not banking on Pete as the guy to lead the ship.
