Get Some Rest & Good Luck Jonathan!

Sleep.  That’s what Stephen Weiss likes to do in his free time.

Well since our wonderful television announcers had that crazy thought back in November that The Little Weasel somehow deserved consideration for Team Canada, he’ll have about two weeks to catch up on it since he was bypassed.  What were those two thinking when they said that?!

The Olympic break is here and there will be no NHL hockey for two weeks.  If you’re a Panther fan, that might be a good thing as we won’t be depressed by the lackluster play we’ve been watching recently.  You can take advantage of this time to catch up on everything you’ve been wanting to do, but were too busy watching hockey, or whatever it is the Panthers call it.

The Panther players meanwhile will be going to Disney, Michigan, Canada, or sleeping, while the stars get to play some extra hockey for their countries.  I’ll still be here everyday with something to say, and rant about.  No predictions on what’s to be discussed, but I’ll promise at least one or two bitch sessions about how to dismantle this team.

Come March 3rd this team could have a significantly different look, or not, depending on what deals GM Randy Sexton can arrange.  I can only hope that the threats that were made last week will be acted upon.

One thought before I wrap up this little quicky.  One of my favorite players in the NHL has fallen on some hard times, and has been sent to the minor leagues.  Former Rocket Richard Trophy winner Jonathan Cheechoo was placed on waivers last week by the Ottawa Senators and has cleared.  He now will be earning his keep in the AHL with Binghamton.  In 61 games this season Cheechoo has only 5 goals and is a minus 13.  His best season was in 2005-2006 when he scored 56 goals and won the Rocket Richard Trophy.  He also helped me win a fantasy league with those gaudy numbers.  Thanks Johnny!

In any event, I hope that he finds his game again and gets his scoring touch back.  A bunch of minor injuries have contributed to his downfall, as well as I’m sure his mental frame of mind is a bit off kilter.  Good luck to one of the hardest working guys in the game.  You deserve to have a rebirth somewhere in the NHL.  Here’s hoping that someday we see this again:

Thanks for reading.

Cheers
