We’ve seen this before haven’t we?
Going to make this quick for a couple reasons. It’s Friday night, and there isn’t much to say in what is looking like the season on the brink of slipping away.
The Panthers losing in OT to the Islanders as Tomas Vokoun once again is not rewarded for outstanding play. We wanted him to steal games and make big saves and keep us in games. He’s doing EXACTLY that. After giving up only one goal again (not counting the shootout) and stopping 35 of 36 shots, he deserves better. He’s been extremely diplomatic throughout this stretch. Unlike his first year here when he was blasting the poor performance in front of him. Maybe he needs to go back to that as he is getting no offensive support.
The first line finally got on the board as Stevie Wonder fed Nathan Horton for the first goal of the game and gave the Panthers the lead. That was is as Islander goalie Dwayne Roloson made 33 saves and was perfect in the shootout. Blake Comeau tied the game roughly three minutes after Horton’s goal on a nice slapshot that sailed past Vokoun. Can’t fault him on that one, as he can’t stop everything.
Slight scare in the third as Nathan Horton got in the way of a Dennis Seidenberg shot and looked like he’d been seriously injured. Fortunately he’s ok and just has a bad bruise. Most likely he’ll be ok for Saturday night against the Leafs.
That’s about it folks. This team continues to play well defensively right now, but as for our offence, how can you think positively when we have scored 2 goals in 9 periods? It’s time for something to happen, even if it’s calling someone else up from Rochester and sit one or two of these grinders. Like Kreps and or Campbell. Also, while Victor Oreskovich has provided some energy, he’s not providing us much else.
I would expect Vokoun to start again Saturday night. He deserves it. As for the offence, well let’s hope that desperation sets in. Another loss or two and you can offically kiss this year goodbye.
And you want me to renew my season ticket by when?
Why? What’s the rush? I promise there aren’t people lining up to take my seat.
Thanks for reading.
