What Tomas Vokoun has been like.
What Tomas Vokoun looked like during last night’s game.

Accuracy is not something that the Florida Panthers will be known for. They took only one shot in the second period and two shooters completely missed the net during the shootout. Tomas Vokoun had to be stellar again. And thankfully he was, stopping 40 shots in a game that was scoreless for three periods including overtime.
The Panthers had their chances including a 5 on 3 in the first period, which resulted in no goals as the Boston defence and goaltender Tim Thomas blanked the Cats. Florida had their chances, but Lazy Ass who took a feed from Cory Stillman, shot the puck into the stick of Thomas which was laying flat along the ice. Earlier in the period The Weasel fed Lazy Ass but, he put a soft shot on net which Thomas saved as he was sliding across the crease.
The Bruins outshot the Panthers 19-1 in the seciond period and seemed to be all over them. Vokoun however once again kept the Panthers in the game with his performance. It seemed to me that as hard as the Panthers appeared to be working and coming up with nothing, you just had the feeling that the Bruins would catch a lucky bounce, or a rebound. Fortunatley for Florida, Vokoun didn’t let that happen. The Panthers actually came out in the third period with some energy and attempted to make the most of their chances.
Peter DeBoer’s comment regarding the Panthers play in the second period, “There are no words to describe the second period”. Nice comment. I’d rather hear something a little more eloquent, but I guess DeBoer hasn’t mastered psycho babble yet.
As mentioned before, Rusty took a shot that was wide of the net in the shootout and The Little Weasel’s shot was so far off the mark, I think it landed near the concession stand. But no fear as Cory Stillman tucked a backhander past Thomas for the winner to give the Panthers their third shootout victory this year, matching last year’s season total.
Things to note: Soup was given some time on the powerplay which I thought was interesting since he only has one goal this year. I would have rather seen Oreskovich or McArdle. Also The Stripper was a healthy scratch for the game. I didn’t notice that though until our horrible tv announcers made the comment.
My Molson Canadien Player of the game: Tomas Vokoun

The Panthers come home now for a Saturday Night tilt against John Tavares and the New York Islanders.
For me, I will be heading to Chicago on Saturday and be back Monday night. I have a few things prepared while I’m gone, so as long as the internet is working while I’m away, stories will be posted according to the schedule I’ve set them up for.
Enjoy the weekend.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers
