After two wins in a row you’d think that the Panthers have possibly turned the corner. I’ve seen this movie before, thus the sentiment above. While Saturday’s game was solid, consider who we beat, a down and out St. Louis team that is struggling at home and was 0-21 on the power play on home ice. Friday’s game against the Dallas NorthStars was an effort that required much resiliency, and a game that should not have gone to a shootout, considering how much we dominated the first 16 minutes.
Yet, we, I mean they, always find a way to regress into the old ways of former coach and worst GM in franchise history Uncle Jack, and start playing prevent defence in the first period. Maybe after Friday night, they learned a lesson as shown by Saturday’s performance. I just can’t be sure.
But ok, boys. I’m happy with the wins, believe me I am. However this week doesn’t get any easier. Division games against Carolina, who will be without Eric Staal due to an upper body injury, and 2 games against the Caps who could be without Alex the Great, who is nursing a beat up shoulder.
If you can get 4 out of 6 points in these 3 games, then maybe you’ll have started to show some promise, but like I said, I’ve seen this before, and it usually isn’t pretty.
Here is another site I check throughout the week with their NHL power rankings for week 5. Check out Stayclassy.net for their review of all the NHL teams.
By the way, game 5 of the World Series is tonight. Could care less about the outcome, but here’s how I feel about one team:
